Epsom
salt
Epsom salt or magnesium sulfate consists of magnesium, oxygen and sulphur. Magnesium, the main component of Epsom salt, has a vital role to play in people’s health and overall well-being. Among other things, magnesium regulates the activity of more than 325 enzymes and also many bodily functions, i.e. muscle control, energy production, the elimination of harmful toxins etc. Researches, however, show that people often suffer from lack of magnesium.
Taken internally, Epsom salt promotes the functions of kidneys, thus eliminating toxins. In addition, the salt is known for its laxative effect.
However, Epsom salt is more widely used externally for its ability to absorb through the skin into the blood.
Some of the useful effects Epsom salt has are the following: decreasing stress, improving sleep and concentration, increasing blood supply in muscles and skin, improving the functions of muscles and nerves, relieving inflammations, reducing swelling, improving oxygen use and absorption of nutrients, preventing or easing migraine headaches, relieving muscle tension, muscle cramps and pain, eliminating toxins, lowering blood pressure, increasing energy, improving skin condition etc.
